About Hussein Nakhal

Born in 1989, Hussein Nakhal is a BA graduate of the Performing Arts Department at the Lebanese University. In addition, he acquired a biology degree from the same university in the same year. In 2011 he started working with NGO’s as a theater instructor for refugees, part of their psycho-social program. Nakhal directed many stage performances for diversified audience: EPIPHANY | Persephone In Beirut MAY 2014, MONOPOLY BEIRUT NOV 2013, HKEYE W ATHAR July 2012 & NAUSEA | In Search of any transparency Jan 2012.

He taught drama for two years at IC and in 2014 was part of the instructors team of the ALBA yearly performance at Beiteddine. In 2012, Hussein co-founded Waraq association, a cultural and artistic association that supports, promotes and connects artists and professionals working in illustration, animation and the art of craftsmanship in the Arab region. In 2015, Hussein co-founded visual arts studio, Studio Kawakeb. 

Through his work with social institutions and through his experience with Waraq he conceived and gave educational workshops for artistic outputs.

This workshop will introduce the participants to the basic principles of animation. Participants will go through a series of exercises where they explore rotoscoping and pixelation techniques in order to come up with a short animated clip. The session will include individual and collective exercises.
